The height safety harness is provided with both front and rear attachment points, which are both labelled and rated for fall-arrest. At the rear is a D-ring, and at the front are two webbing loops. These loops must be connected together. When connecting to the rear attachment point, wherever possible connect the lanyard before putting the harness on, or have a second person check the integrity of the connection. The lanyard (or other means of connecting to an anchorage) should be connected to the anchorage above the level of the attachment D-ring and the amount of slack in the system minimised, so that any fall that may happen is as short as possible.
Storage, Cleaning, and Inspection
Harnesses should be stored in a clean and dry environment and must not be dried by the direct application of heat. The webbing may be cleaned by hosing or by brushing with a weak solution of mild soap and thorough rinsing. This harness must be inspected at least every six months, and withdrawn from service if not deemed by a competent person to be suitable for continued use. Refer to AS/NZS 1891.4: Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices: selection, use and maintenance, for inspection procedures.
Correct safety procedures must be used at all times. Seek advice if unsure of procedures. The manufacturer cannot accept any responsibility for unwise or unsafe use of this harness. Examine the webbing regularly for wear and do not use if there is visible damage to the webbing. Store away from heat and sunlight.
If any part of the harness is exposed to chemicals such as cleaning materials, solvents, or hazardous atmospheres, consult the manufacturer for advice on whether it is still safe to use. No modifications may be made to this harness without the express permission of the manufacturer.
Harnesses and lanyards should be destroyed or returned to the manufacturer for inspection if a fall has been sustained. Personal energy absorbers that absorb energy by permanent deformation or destructive action should be discarded if that process has commenced.
Please read these instructions carefully
This harness is designed for fall protection using either a front or rear attachment point. Suitable applications are: construction and maintenance, roof work, confined space work, swinging stages, and cherry pickers.
Any person using this harness should be familiar with the use of harnesses and related safety equipment, and must be fully conversant with the safety system in use, including any anchorages, lanyards, ropes, rope grabs, and connectors that are part of the system.
Putting the Harness On
Firstly, make sure that the harness is correctly oriented and untangled, with the shoulder straps at the top and the leg loops hanging down. The adjustment buckles should be loosened off and leg loop buckles unlatched.
Hold the harness in front, looking at the rear of it, and pass the arms through the shoulder straps, and let the harness drop down.
Check that the leg loop straps are untwisted, and pass the straps around behind the legs to the buckles and latch them. Then tighten all the buckles and make sure that the harness is fitting snugly.
If the harness is loose when the straps are fully tightened, the harness is too large. As well as the standard “medium” size, the harness is available in small and large by special order. Sizing is based on average body build. People who are broader or slimmer than average may have trouble getting a correct fit.
