Strength ratings
Each maillon rapide is stamped with a rated strength. The type of rating depends on the intended use: standard industrial items which make up most of the range are rated by Safe Working Load, which is one-fifth of the rated breaking strength in kilograms. A small part of the maillon range is designed and certified for use in safety systems, and is referred to as PPE (personal protective equiipment). Those products are rated by their minimum breaking strength in kilonewtons (kN).
Where the PPE -rated products are available, we supply those in preference. We show both ratings in the specification tables for each type of screw-link, but only one will be marked on the product.
